Texans Standing Tall
Dr. Joel Dunnington will join Texans Standing Tall at the 2017 Statewide Summit to educate participants about tobacco prevention funding. Dr. Dunnington served as a consultant for the Attorney General in the Texas State Tobacco Lawsuit and has made countless presentations about tobacco related diseases and prevention. Now retired, Dr. Dunnington has an extensive resume documenting his career as a radiologist. From 1985 to 1988, he served as an assistant professor of radiology at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Lubbock. In 1988, he moved on to the Division of Diagnostic Imaging at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston as an associate professor and retired in 2014 as a professor with tenure. Dr. Dunnington served on more than 90 internal committees at MD Anderson and several publications have published his writing on tobacco related issues. He is a recipient of countless awards including Radiologist of the Year, Lubbock General Hospital in 1988; Tobacco-Free Texas Award - Lifetime Achievement from the American Cancer Society in 2004; and was named a Best Doctor in America in 2014. Dunnington has presented, moderated, and chaired several international, national, state, and local conferences.
