Sierra Castedo has been in recovery since 2012 and has served as the director of the Center for Students in Recovery at the University of Texas at Austin since 2014. Sierra has served as the Southwest Region Representative on the board of the national Association of Recovery in Higher Education since May 2016. Acting as a guide to newly-established programs in the UT System’s efforts to expand collegiate recovery system-wide, Sierra has had experience working with a diverse set of campuses across the state and region. She has also been a founding member of the Recovery-Oriented Community Collaborative and the Youth Recovery Network. Sierra is a certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist, and is working toward a Master’s of Public Health at the UT School of Public Health. She is the co-author of the book chapter “Collegiate Recovery” to be published in Emerging Adults in Substance Use Disorder Treatment: Developmental Considerations and Innovative Treatments (ed. Douglas Smith) published earlier this year.
